What is I-lookup?
ILookup is an Internet Explorer toolbar. It adds bookmarks to the Favorites menu, hijacks your home page, search page and error page. A home page hijacker is a trojan which may reset your browser's home page and/or search settings to point to other sites. Such sites are sometimes porn sites, often loaded with advertisting. Home page hijackers may also prevent you from changing your home page.
What is ILookup and what exactly does it do?
ILookup is an IE toolbar which adds a search box and link buttons, bookmarks to the Favorites menu (mostly affiliate links) and hijacks both your home page and your Search sidebar. It is distributed by Drive-by Download from sites such as http://www.bigmeatycocks.com. "Success" in a drive-by download will require IE 6 with security settings set to "low". Both scripts and an ActiveX accomplish the installation and subsequent operation. No click on anything on the page will be required, no warning will be given, and nothing will be displayed during the installation of ILookup. Upon reload of IE, you will have a toolbar that is not visible, and contains no text
I-lookup exists in the following variants :
- ILookup/Ineb is implemented by the file ineb.dll and connects to the site i-lookup.com.
- ILookup/Gws is implemented by the file gws.dll and connects to the site globalwebsearch.com.
- ILookup/Chgrgs is implemented by the file chgrgs.dll.
- ILookup/Abeb is implemented by the file abeb.dll and connects to the site superwebsearch.com.
- ILookup/Bmeb is implemented by the file bmeb.dll and connects to the site traffichog.com.
- ILookup/Sbus is implemented by the file sbus.dll and connects to the site searchbus.com.
- ILookup/Drbr is implemented by the file drbr.dll and connects to the site globaltoolbar.com.
ILookup may track your browsing habits and report this info to a central ad server. It periodically connects to its controlling server, which may direct it to open pop-up advertising, often porn-related.

Right-click the object called 'I-Lookup.com Bar' (Ineb and Abeb variants), 'GlobalWebSearch.com Bar' (Gws and Chgrgs variants), 'SearchBus.com Bar' (Sbus variant), 'GlobalToolbar.com Bar' (Drbr variant) or 'Search Bar' (Bmeb variant). Click 'Remove'.
remove i-lookup step 2) Next, open a DOS command prompt window (Start->Programs->Accessories) and enter the following commands.
For the Ineb variant
- cd "%WinDir%\System"
- regsvr32 /u Ineb.dll
- cd "%WinDir%\System"
- regsvr32 /u GWS.dll
- cd "%WinDir%\System"
- regsvr32 /u Chgrgs.dll
- cd "%WinDir%\System"
- regsvr32 /u abeb.dll
- cd "%WinDir%\System"
- regsvr32 /u bmeb.dll
- cd "%WinDir%\System"
- regsvr32 /u sbus.dll
- cd "%WinDir%\System"
- regsvr32 /u drbr.dll
remove i-lookup step 3) Finally to use Internet Options->Programs->Reset Web Settings to get the normal search sidebar back, reset your homepage, and delete the extra bookmarks added to the Favorites menu.
To clean up, you can also open the registry and delete the key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ineb.
