N-case removal: Introduction to ncase spyware
N-case is a spyware software which silently generates logs of your surfing activity. The software also silently uploads these logs to the servers of 180Solutions's who are the developers of N-case. According to 180Solution’s n-CASE software provides users with real-time comparision-shopping sources as they search for products and services online.
What is N-Case and what exactly does it do?
When N-Case is actively running on your computer, the software generates logs of your surfing activity, including web pages you have visited and the order in which you visited these pages. These logs are then uploaded to 180Solutions' secure servers.
It will cause pop-up advertisements or can add shortcuts to the desktop or startup or both. It can update itself. Whenever Windows starts, because of being at startup, it calls itself and runs on backend causing pop-ups. The URL is passed with a unique identifier to nCase's controlling server bis.180Solutions.com when a targeted advert is shown, allowing web pages to be tracked across sites. Newer version of this ad-ware also seems to try to read an e-mail address, real name and ZIP code to associate with the unique identifier, from applications' data in the registry. It can also cause Internet Explorer to be a bit slow to start up, and some versions are reported to generate page fault errors. nCase can download and execute arbitrary unsigned code from its controlling servers, as an update feature.
nCase is aware of the FlashTrack parasite and will disable it if it is running, to stop it showing competing adverts. Some versions also seem to connect to the Gator web servers occasionally, for unknown reasons. n-CASE connects to 66.35.229.241 and 216.74.57.198.
Manual removal of n-case is quite tedious as the spyware vigorously resists removal. Any attempt to delete it results in a popup warning to be displayed. Instructions to get rid of n-case are provided below.

How to manually remove N-Case Spyware from your system?

As several files may be in use currently when NCase has infected your system, you should first start Windows in Safe Mode, generally by pressing F8 when the computer restarts and choosing Safe Mode for the list of choices.
- Remove the Startup Entry in the Registry
- Open you registry using regedit
- Open HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionRun
- right-click the entry 'msbb' inside it, and click 'Delete'
Also check for a randomly-named entry three or more letters long, pointing to a .EXE of the same name with the path in the Windows folder. Delete this registry entry and the file it points to.

- Right-click and Delete the following folders nCase & msbb
- Open HKEY_Current_UserSoftware
- Right-click and Delete the folder called 180solutions
Delete the NCASE folder inside inside Program Files. In older versions without an 'nCase' folder, look in the System folder (inside the Windows folder; called 'System32' under Windows NT, 2000 and XP, or just 'System' on Windows 95, 98 and Me), and delete msbb.exe.
Remove the Active X Control (if present) Open “Downloaded Program Files” folder in your windows directory Right-click on the nCaseInstaller Class entry (if present) and click Delete
Congratulations, you have successfully removed nCASE from your computer.
